Filemaker pro 16 advanced single user license free
Am I interpreting this correctly? Does this not cover development remotely on a file hosted with FileMaker Server that is purchased through non-FDS channels?
Because in my mind, that is still “development”. And large files are not typically easy to move from a development machine to production server Seems like this is a weird hole that punishes people with large files, which typically equates to long time users of FileMaker.
An example, our files total around 20 files, multiple files being over 30GB without container data and has been in production and constant development for 10 years. I am an in-house developer for our company. We also have a development server running under the FDS licensing.
In my job, I access both servers: future development and testing on the development server and troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance on the production server. In my job, I do not do production work. Now, with the new licensing program, what license do I use for the FMPA client software on my computer? This is not a hypothetical scenario. Are you paying for a license with your FM Cloud instance? Or is your license an individual purchase of FMPA?
Thank you Eric! That answered my main question. Now, one follow up question. Isn’t it? Can I use the FMP17 without any limitations to develop?
There is no Demo period. It us fully functional for the year of your subscription. There are licensing restrictions on how it may be used, see below. The server license expires at the end of the annual subscription period.
This special, test-only license for the FileMaker Platform includes full product functionality and features. The software provided under this license may not be used in a production environment. FileMaker Pro Advanced received under this license may not connect to any other Server with any other license key.
The FileMaker Server license may only be used for development and testing purposes. Essentially what you get with the FDS license is a working server license for testing, you still need a FileMaker Pro Advanced license for developing, as I understand it.
Ditto Ben. But i may be wrong of course. Thanks Fred. The inclusion and the wording is interesting – If as a developer I can’t use the FM Pro Advanced license for developing, then what use is it? I guess I can hand it out to my team of 3 beta testers who never use FileMaker Pro Advanced for anything other than testing on my test server, so they don’t need a full licence?
I guess it is useful for marketing – you can let an opportunity test an FM App before purchasing? No serious developer will hand over an app to the customer after development and say bye. I have subscribed for many years.
The 3 user limit is just fine for testing. I have no complaints at all about the FDS. I have a full FileMaker Pro Advanced license myself for development work. My users have full FileMaker Pro Advanced licenses for work. As I say, I guess the test only licences would be useful to allow potential customers to try out FileMaker before buying? My question seems quite specific and not geared at licensing in general: When we moved to FM 16 cloud , we decided to go with the annual licensing model of FMPA because of the apparent annual version releases.
