Peer-Education

Education is a major intervention tool of YEF in Nigeria. The Foundation has concentrated efforts
in the area of scholarship resources and linkages to training on time management and academic
excellence for school based adolescents. Since inception in 1995, YEF has used the peer-education
approach in training young people including adolescents on life skills and has worked in Akure,
Ado-Ekiti, Igbokoda, Ibadan, Kano, Lagos, Owerri, Port-Harcourt and Abuja to date.
Various partners have funded interventions to date, including UNICEF, Ministries of Education,
Ondo, Ekiti and Oyo States, Johns Hopkins University, NACA, Catholic Relief Services, Coca-Cola,
Women Win and Standard Chartered.

Just recently YEF had their annual summer camp program for over 100 adolescents in Lagos at the
NYSC camp, Iyana Ipaja. The objective of the camp program which had a theme ‘’DISCOVER LIFE’’
was to create a new environment for fun and learning outside the home setting, engender the
spirit of tolerance, competition and self-reliance necessary in the development of a young child.
It further exposed the participants on the dangers of illicit drug abuse, mental health and internet
fraud.
