African child is confronted with lots of challenges such as conflict, neglect, starvation, sexual abuse, inequality, lack of access to education, lack of parental care and their civic rights perpetually denied. 2016 Day of the African Child (DAC) is observe Under the theme “Conflict and Crisis in Africa: Protecting all Children’s Rights”. In line with the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) Continental Study on the impact of armed conflict on children is Africa, it is part of the efforts to elevate child protection agenda in conflict situation in Africa as well as a guarantee to protection and preservation of life and well-being of the African children. DAC is commemorated every year on 16th of June. Like every year, this year (DAC) present us with an ample opportunity not only for sober reflection against the myriads of child’s challenges, but to also focus on the work of all actors committed to the rights of children on the continent in order to consolidate their efforts in addressing the obstacles for realising these rights.
