GOAL LAGOS STAKEHOLDERS MEETING, 2016

Youth Empowerment Foundation (YEF) organized a meeting with stakeholders of GOAL project in Lagos State today, 31st March, 2016 at 10.00am at Delta Kitchen Hall, Bode Thomas, Surulere Lagos. The stakeholders in attendance were School Teachers, School Principals, Sport Coaches, representatives from Educational District IV, Ministries of Education and Sports, Child Protection Network(CPN) Lagos state and media persons.
Presentations made in the meeting includes: Overview of GOAL Project in Nigeria (including its history, strategies, activities, success stories and challenges), Overview of GOAL Handbook, and Monitoring & Evaluation report of GOAL 2015. Following each presentation was a section of comments, questions and recommendations. Also incorporated into the meeting was a section on Child Protection/Right taken by a participant who attended a workshop at British Council on building functional systems within the school unit for Child Protection.
The stakeholders acknowledged the efforts of YEF and promised to increase their commitment to yield greater impact on girls in Secondary schools. It was recommended that the skills and knowledge imparted to the girls should be localized among other students in schools, and some of the lessons from GOAL Handbook would be taken at morning Pet Talks in the schools.
