Young people are generally a healthy group with high level of energy and creativity. Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The young are the future of the society, but they are also very much its present. Youth is a crucial period for establishing positive health and social behaviors.
It is a time when young people are undergoing rapid emotional, physical and intellectual changes, and when they begin the transition from childhood to adolescence to independent adulthood. Timely, accurate and comprehensive information on the health and wellbeing of young people is therefore essential for development of any nation. The rate of health related challenges including death is increasing among young people, and is mostly attributable to risky behavior and other preventable causes.
YEF is committed to seeing healthy transition to adulthood especially for the girl child.
YEF believes that supporting them to transit successfully to healthy and productive adults translates to self- actualized individuals, healthy workforce, and a vibrant economy. YEF works to bridge the gap of inadequate access to correct information and poor knowledge of SRH and other health issues through the provision of life skills and correct information on health related issues and SRH.
YEF is committed to seeing healthy transition to adulthood especially for the girl child and over the years has worked in secondary and tertiary institutions empowering young people to adopt positive health seeking behavior, protect their sexual and reproductive rights as well as influence others to do same. We believe that young people need access to correct information, comprehensive health services, and a safe and supportive environment to thrive.
